Sarah Haas

Sophomore

Hometown: Granite Falls, North Carolina, United States

Major/Concentration: Women’s Studies

I’m a sophomore here at Duke from a small town in Western North Carolina just tryin’ to figure it all out! I’m passionate about social justice, gender equality, volunteerism, and the pursuit of a good cup of tea. I love to travel, read, and write- with a special interest in poetry- and I’m always updating a blog or social media site (like Twitter, feel free to follow me @sarahehaas). I can’t wait to share my Duke story with you.

As for my major, I recently declared Women’s Studies and I hope to add Middle Eastern Studies with a concentration in Arabic and Education to this very soon. Check back in with me next year! At Duke, I’m a member of the First-Year Advisory Counselor Executive Board, the Duke Catholic Center, and the Dardasha service-learning volunteer program. I’m also the social media intern for Duke’s Office of News and Communications. During my time at Duke, I’ve participated in a DukeEngage program in Cairo, Egypt and, in the fall of 2013, I am planning to study abroad in Israel.
