Hey folks! My name is Tre’ and I’m a sophomore from Jacksonville, Florida majoring in Public Policy. When I am not in class making decision-trees or matrixes, I’m doing something exciting around campus. While classes, extracurriculars, friends and general craziness can make college feel hectic, I feel like everyday at Duke is an adventure.

DukeEngage Summer 2012

With over 400 student groups on campus, you can find your niche in various organizations. At Duke, I am involved in Duke Student Government, duArts (an umbrella organization for all the performing arts groups on campus), and Hoof ‘N’ Horn as the producer of the spring musical. During the week, I also work as a staff member for the LGBT Center for Duke University. And this past summer, I had an amazing time working on an independent project through DukeEngage in Qingyuan, Guangdong, China!

If I am not busy, you can find me in my fraternity section on Duke’s central campus, or relaxing on the Bryan Center plaza. Coming from Florida, I have to say I enjoy the 75-degree weather here, as opposed to the triple digits back home.

I don’t know exactly what I want to do after college yet. I have to admit, this made me nervous coming into Duke. But, you know, I’ve come to realize that’s ok. You don’t have to know just yet, there’s time for that. Right now, I am enjoying a variety of classes about ethics and politics, environmental history, Chinese, rap & hip-hop, and more. College is about exploring, so when I do decide on my career, I’ll be sure it’s the right one.
